Christ the Redeemer Tickets

Three kinds of tickets lead to the statue: the train, the official vans and a walk-in ticket for hikers. Here are the prices published in 2026, who pays less and what to book ahead.

Christ the Redeemer ticket prices at a glance

There is no single ticket for the statue. The price depends on how you go up. The train ticket covers the return ride and entry to the monument. The official van ticket does the same from the departure point you choose. Hikers buy only an entry ticket at the top, because the trails themselves are free.

All prices below are in Brazilian real (BRL), as published in 2026 by the operators and the national park. A published price is not a promise that seats are free on your day. Check the amount again when you book, and look up the current exchange rate for your own currency.

Since 3 August 2026 the park allows only half as many visitors at the same time while the escalators are being replaced. That applies to every route. Booking ahead makes sense, but there is no general rule that online purchase is required.

Official van prices by departure point

Published by the national park. The operator says the amount depends on the day and the departure point.

DepartureAdultsReduced
Paineiras visitor centerBRL 87BRL 60
Largo do MachadoBRL 132BRL 105
Praça do Lido, CopacabanaBRL 132BRL 105
Catedral Metropolitana (new in September 2026)BRL 132, as reported by the press at the startBRL 105, as reported

The reduced fares apply to students, people with disabilities, ID Jovem holders and seniors from 60, if they are Brazilian or foreign residents of Brazil. The normal van ticket includes the return trip to the same departure point and entry to the monument. You cannot return to a different station.

For children the sources differ. On the park page the reduced child fare starts at 5 years at Paineiras and at 7 years at the city stops. The operator lists children from 0 to 6 as free, with a free ticket collected at the counter and an age document. Ask at the counter which rule applies to your child.

Walk-in tickets for hikers

If you hike, you pay only for the monument. The park publishes two sets of numbers. One page lists BRL 60 for adults, made up of BRL 54 entry plus a BRL 6 Mitra share, and BRL 33 for reduced categories. Another page lists BRL 58 for adults and BRL 32 for children 7 to 11 and reduced categories. Expect BRL 58 to 60 and let the cashier confirm it.

Children up to 6 enter free. The ticket office at the top sells the tickets. Cashier hours for hikers are 08:00 to 17:00. If you do not want to walk down, a train ride downhill costs BRL 37 on one page and BRL 35 on the other. The entry ticket is separate from any van or train ride.

For the route, effort and safety, read the hike page.

How to book without surprises

Four habits that avoid most problems.

Book ahead for fixed dates

Train tickets are sold online by the operator and at the station. With visitor numbers halved, a fixed time slot is safer than hoping for a seat at the counter.

Train details →

Arrive early

Check in at the train at least 40 minutes before your departure. Late arrivals are carried only if there is space. For vans, be at the stop 15 minutes ahead.

Departure points →

Keep documents ready

Children and every reduced fare need proof. Carry passports or ID cards and the age document for each child.

Plan for the steps

The escalators are out of service. Three lifts run between the first and second levels, then 80 stone steps lead up. Stair chairs and stair vehicles exist but do not run in rain or on wet ground. Ask the operator in advance if someone in your group has trouble with stairs.

Christ the Redeemer tickets: frequently asked questions

How much is a ticket to Christ the Redeemer?

By train BRL 134 for adults in 2026, with the return trip and entry included. By official van BRL 87 from Paineiras and BRL 132 from the city stops. On foot, around BRL 58 to 60 for the entry at the top.

Do foreign tourists get reduced fares?

Not as a rule. The train operator limits reduced fares to Brazilians. For vans, Brazilians and foreign residents of Brazil qualify with proof.

Can I buy a ticket at the station?

Yes. The park says train tickets are sold online and at the station, and van tickets online and at the departure points. With half the usual visitor numbers, a booked time slot is the safer choice.

What do children pay?

On the train, children 7 to 11 pay BRL 107 and children up to 6 travel free on a lap. Van rules for children differ between the park and the operator, so ask at the counter. Bring a document with the child's age.

Is a refund possible if clouds cover the statue?

Do not count on it. Published prices carry no promise of visibility, and the operators give no rule for refunds because of weather. Check the forecast and choose a flexible day if you can.

Is this site a ticket office?

No. This is an independent guide with no link to the train, the vans, the park or the sanctuary. Prices are for orientation and come from the operators' own pages.
